Timeless jewelry inspired by nature and art

Sofie Kiefer is a Belgian jewelry designer inspired by nature and art.

Whether it be objects from a long-forgotten past, characteristic motifs from her husband’s artworks or finds from during her many walks (a shark’s tooth, the pistil of a flower), Sofie transforms them into the most extraordinary jewels.

Her designs evoke personal memories as much as they appeal to a collective unconscious. Take the maple seeds, for instance, a returning motive in Sofie Kiefer’s first jewelry collection, called La-di-da La-di-da, la-la. A direct inspiration from her youth, they remind us of the carefree days of elementary school. What child didn’t try them out as helicopters?

Following her second collection, My love is a flower, which focused on the wonders of nature, Sofie’s third collection, La Mer, is another ode to her childhood. More specifically to the age-old Belgian tradition of making crepe paper flowers and selling them at the seaside. Like a true beachcomber, Sofie dug up all kinds of shells and other treasures from the sea for this collection.

Timeless as they are, Sofie’s designs all share a tad of nostalgia. Memories are silvered like precious fossils. From a blade of grass, a parakeet’s leg, the jaw of a rodent, a shell or spearhead, moulds are made to be transformed with the greatest care into the most unique designs.
